CRD shines at INFOTEL 2013
The Center for Research & Development (CRD) of the Ministry of Defence and Urban development (MoD&UD) was awarded the “Most Innovative Technology” award at the INFOTEL 2013 held at the Exhibition and Convention Centre in Colombo last week (24th to 27th October).
Infotel 2013 is focused on building bridges across different sectors thus allowing Agriculture, Medicine, Communication, Education, Transportation and Tourism to be showcased in the ICT Exhibition. It is the largest and pioneer ICT exhibition in Sri Lanka and is organized by the Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS). It concurrently takes place with the World Summit Awards (WSA) organized by ICTA.
The award was presented during the World Summit Award (WSA) Global Congress 2013.
The CRD had presented in-house developed projects using world’s most advanced mobile, web and live tracking technology together with modern military simulators. The Hi-Tec Soldier -total web solution, Gampaha geo citizen information system/postal boundary map, artillery gun firing simulator and the small arms firing simulator were the innovative projects presented by the CRD.
More than 150 participants from around the world vied for the honours for 6 awards in different categories.
Recently the CRD won the ‘Merit Award’ for the development of ‘Hi-Tech Soldier’ at the National Best Quality ICT Awards 2013. It also was awarded the ‘Winner Award’ at the e-Swabhimani 2012 awards ceremony for its Field Artillery Simulator System (FASS) in January this year. .
