No injuries were reported due to the attack. Meanwhile, LTTE terrorists fired in hiding towards Army troops in UDDIPIDDI, JAFFNA around 7.40 p.m. today (13), causing no damages to Security Forces. OMANTHAI: SL ARMY TROOPS SUCCESSFULLY THWARTED an attempt to attack the OMANTHAI Army foot patrol along the OMANTHAI FDL by a group of LTTE terrorists, around 5.20 p.m. today, July 13. One Army solider died and another sustained minor injuries during the confrontation. While exact details of fatalities to LTTE are not available at the time of reporting, ground troops confirmed that LTTE suffered heavy casualties. The SLMM will be informed of the incident. |

TRINCOMALEE: IN THE SEARCH OPERATION CONDUCTED BY THE Army after they were fired upon by the LTTE whilst on patrol in PALAMPATAR on 12 July around 8.45 p.m., two T-56 assault rifles and a 40 mm grenade launcher were also found with the two dead bodies.

One of the dead named M. SURESHKUMAR (24) had in his possession his National Identity Card (NIC) No. 82167316 V , of PENCHER AMMAN KOVIL road, ARIYAMPAN. He also had with him a document to indicate that he was a field monitor of CARE International.
 Further details of the search findings would follow. Troops Successfully Retaliated LTTE Fire TRINCOMALEE: LTTE TERRORISTS FIRED at Army patrol at PALAMPATTAR, MONKEY BRIDGE on 12 July around 8.45 p.m. The troops retaliated. The following moving troops recovered two dead bodies, two T-56 weapons and one 40 mm grenade launcher. The SLMM was reported. Navy Arrest 34 In A Fiber Glass Dinghy MANNAR: NAVAL TROOPS DEPLOYED AT URUMALAI observed suspicious persons attempting to procede Sand Banks area using Fiber Glass Dinghy with their personal belongings around 9.00 a.m. on Wednesday (12 July). Interrogation revealed that 34 persons were planning to immigrate to India as refugees. Out of them 09 were identified as boat crew. Most of them were identified as residents of TRINCOMALLE PESALAI and JAFFNA areas. Arrested persons along with items handed over to the TALAIMANNAR Police for further investigations. |

JAFFNA : NAVAL TROOPS ON BOARD DVORA CRAFT on a routine patrolling in the seas off VETTALAKERNI coastal line on Wednesday (12) detected suspicious movement of five boats suspected to be from LTTE in the early hours around 4.30 a.m.Despite the warning alarms, the unidentified boats accelerated its approach towards the naval craft when sailors had to fire warning shots that compelled the enemy boats to flee.No injuries were reported in the incident.The matter will be informed to the SLMM. JAFFNA: THREE SRI LANKA NAVY (SLN) boats conducting patrols in the KILALY lagoon observed a LTTE fiber glass dinghy approaching towards them at high speed from NAGATHIVANTHURAI area around 1.15 p.m. Tuesday (July 11).The approaching LTTE craft opened fire at the SLN boats and naval troops retaliated resulting complete destruction of the enemy boat along with four Sea Tigers.A search operation is in progress in the KILLALY lagoon by the Navy. | MANNAR: TIGER TERRORISTS MINGLING WITH FISHERMEN fired at troops on route clearing duties at SURIYAKATTAKADU lake, NANATANN, MANNAR today (10) around 8.00 a.m.The terrorists fled the scene on retaliation by the troops. On being informed by the route clearing party the troops in a close up camp established a cutoff and in which the fleeing terrorists confronted and shot.During the confrontation one terrorist was shot dead and subsequent search recovered one claymore mine, one 9mm pistol with 3 magazines, one T 56 weapon and a magazine.When the troops further cordoned the area a fleeing terrorist of the same group attempted to throw a hand grenade and fire at troops approximately 500 meters away from the first confronted location.
