A haul of military equipment recovered

A haul of bombs and weapons were recovered and landmines unearthed in WANNI area by troops with organizations yesterday (15).

Troops of the Security Forces headquarters 56 division recovered 176 x 60mm bombs, 12 x 60mm charges, 01 x hand grenade, 01 x anti - personnel mine, 28 x 0.50 ammunitions, 800 x 7.62x39 ammunition with the assistance of DDG organization at KOLLARPULIYANKULAM, 07 x  anti - personal mines at MARUTHANKULAM with the assistance of MMIP organization, 76 x anti - personnel mines with the assistance of Horizon organization at MAHILANKULAM and 16 x  anti - personnel with the assistance of DDG organization and at PARASANKULAM, 06 x anti - personnel mines with the assistance of DDG organization.

Troops of 61 Division found 446 x anti - personnel mines and 01 x 81mm bomb at MADHU, 22 x anti - personnel mines and 02 x hand grenades with the assistance of MAG organization at SINNAPANDIVIRICHCHAN and unearthed 99 anti - personnel mines at PERIYATHAMPANEI, 57 x anti - personnel mines at MALLAWARAYANKADDAMADAMPAN, 49 x at IRANAILUPPUKULAM, and 07 x at VILATHIKULAM with the assistance of FSD organization. Troops of Security Forces KILINOCHCHI found 01 x  booby trap and 12 x anti - personnel mines at IRANAMADU, and 04 x Arul bombs, 03 x 60mm smoke bombs and unearthed 02 x anti - personnel mines at KANDAVALI.

Troops of Task Force 03 found 05 x anti - personnel mines at OLUMADU and 04 x at IRANAMADU.  Security forces, MULATHIVU 59 Division recovered 01 x T - 56 weapons at KUMULAMUNAI and 01 x hand grenade at CHENMALAI.

Troops of the 68 Division recovered 3200 x 7.62x39 ammunition and 03 x hand grenades at Wellamulliwaikkal and along with police found 04 x bombs, 52  x switches, 01 x  remote control box, 02  x claymore mines, 01 x 82mm bomb, 02 x RPG bombs and 02 x RPG charges.

Meanwhile police found 04 x hand grenades and 116 x 7.62x39 ammunitions at UPPUWELI, MANGAUTTU.
