According to the "Sunday Observer "( 18) , Interpol has issued "red notices" on two hardcore LTTE terrorists namely sixty year old Ponniah Anandarajah alias Rajah alias Ayyah , born in Chankanai, Jaffna and a resident of the USA as well as 48 year old Achudan Sivarasa -Pirundaban Achudan born in Jaffna based on secret documents recovered by the Security Forces from the LTTE "Castro" office in the Wanni recently to break the LTTE international terror outfit reportedly still active in the International arena. Achudan is reportedly a trained pilot from a flying school in France who later became a French citizen living today in the Middle East with his two children . He had been a frequent traveler to several European and African countries and responsible for the purchase of aircraft for the LTTE and forging links with political personalities and business dealers . Anandarajah had been the head of the LTTE financial procurement and shipping network since 2003 and has negotiated deals in making arms and ammunition deals on behalf of the LTTE.
Names of two other "Top" LTTE activists involved in LTTE investments and business deals identified as Narendran domiciled in Europe , and Bhavindran and Rooban have also surfaced as operating from South East Asian countries . They have been also reportedly been involved in the procurement of arms and ships besides being involved in business deals. The government of Sri Lanka has "sought more information from intelligence sources regarding the three LTTE factions now operating in Norway, United Kingdom and the USA . Reports indicate that while the Rudrakumaran faction is based in the USA , the Nediyavan faction is based in Norway and the Global Tamil Forum led by Fr Emmanuel is in the United Kingdom. Germany, according to reports have so far this year arrested five LTTE suspects while the Netherlands have arrested eight.
It is clear from the continuing investigations by the authorities that the LTTE activists like other terrorist outfits as the Sikh militants in the Punjab which have failed in armed struggle still continue to keep alive their programs . The Times of India (19), Chandigarh/New Delhi also reports that the approval of the Home Ministry may not be forthcoming despite the Punjab Government's recommendation and "clearance" to the Center to remove 46 names of former members of the Khalistani militants due to objections by the security and intelligence agencies "amid reports of attempts made to revive militancy in the state". A senior Home Ministry is quoted to have stated:" It is highly unlikely that the Center will prune the list at a time when reports hint at revival of militancy in Punjab at the behest of Sikh radicals and Khalistani militants who have taken political asylum in different countries". The Official said ""Review of the list is a constant process which is done keeping in mind radical ideological leanings of former Khalistani militants " The Indian Home Ministry had submitted the names of 169 blacklisted Sikhs to the Punjab government earlier but "Officials believe that though Sikh militancy ended in Punjab long ago , the government could not take a risk amid reports of attempts made by different elements - including Pakistani ISI which has given shelter to a number of Khalistani militants - to revive the pro- Khalistani movement ". Across the Palk Straits are also leading Tamil Nadu politicians who constantly make 'noises' sympathetic to the LTTE.
