Commander of the Navy visits Naval Deployments on the North-western Coast

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe visited the Naval Deployments in Mullikulum, Vedithalthivu and Nachchikudah and Naval Bases in Mannar and Thalaimannar on 25th and 26th July 2010. He also met the Mannar fishing community at SLNS Gajaba.

During the visit, the Navy Commander examined the administrative and operational readiness of the Naval establishments and looked into the welfare facilities under implementation for Naval personnel. He also reviewed the present progress of the construction activities at the Naval Deployments. The Navy Commander held discussions with the fishing community with regard to the fishing activities in the area and instructed Naval officials to provide facilities for their professional uplift and welfare. He also toured at Sand Banks and Iranathivu island with a view to ascertain the Naval Deployments in the area.
